Foundation History

The Eagle’s Nest, a youth ministry, established a small clothes closet to aid the youth they served.  As their clothes closet grew it became more work than their volunteers could manage.  Their board members asked me to become the director of the clothing ministry in April 2005.  In September 2005, hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Gulf Coast and thousands of evacuees came to East Texas.  The Clothes Closet provided clothing for over 1,000 people.  The community was overwhelmingly generous in their donations and we were able to fill almost every need of those who came to us.  We also worked closely with the Red Cross Shelter to fill their needs.  After things returned to “normal” The Clothes Closet & More had become an important part of our community.  Our school district has an 81% economically disadvantaged enrollment, therefore, there is a great need for the services we offer
